Set of Cupcake Notecards Using the Cricut Imagine and the Better Together Cart

I can't believe it has been two months since I have posted something on my blog. Terrible. What is more terrible I think is I haven't crafted in the last two months either. Work, school, and living in NYC has been beyond busy as of late. Let me not complain though, I have had so much fun over the last few months. But I have missed crafting, and tonight I had nothing going on so I decided to play with my toys for a bit.

I was looking on the Cricut message boards and came across this project a lady named Beth had done. She made printed notecard using her Imagine. Her project is wonderful and really sparked my interest. I would never have thought of this on my own, so creative. Her post shows how you can use the Imagine in a different way, so great. Here is the link to her blog, it is great. So many good projects! I became a follower and so should you.

So onto what I did with it. I love the Imagine carts. The artwork is so fun and playful. I recently purchased the Better Together cart. Such cute shapes, and I fell in love with the cupcake with the long eyelashes. I thought this would be the perfect design for a notecard, fun and cheerful.

Like on her blog I lined up where I wanted the image to print on my card. I layed the card down making sure it would be right side up for the printed image. Because you can not yet choose where to print on the mat you have to do a work around. To do this I picked the square shape that is already loaded on the Imagine. I adjusted the sizes and arrangement a number of times before I got it to line up well. This was the most time consuming part. I can't wait for an upgrade where the Imagine screen will work like the Gypsy. I could have tried using the Cricut Craft Room, but have read people aren't having much luck, and I didn't want to waste time. Now that I have done it I think it will go a lot quicker next time.

What the Imagine screen looked like before the prints

Also make sure you change to print only, instead of the default Print & Cut

Here's a closeup

On a side note. I haven't used my Imagine in awhile, more than a couple of months, a shame I know. When I printed the first card the image was grainy and had lines in it. I thought maybe I needed to change the ink cartridges, but the machine said they were okay. So I thought I would give cleaning the printer heads a shot to see if it made a difference. And it did, you can see the difference below.

So hopefully another two months doesn't go by before I use my Imagine, but if it does I will clean the printer heads before.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope this won't be my only post for the month of July, lol
